Male arrested with an unlicensed firearm

Selosesha: A 20-year-old male will appear in Thaba`Nchu Magistrate court soon on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon at his parental home. 

On 22 April 2020 at about 14:20, Detective Constable Seleke Maoke and Detective Maswabi Mabuya received a tipoff about a man who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The two members acted swiftly and went to a house at Mokwena in Selosesha.

On arrival they met with a suspect and upon interrogation he confirmed that a firearm is inside the house. The unlicensed firearm was found behind a mirror on a wall. It was a pistol with four live rounds and two magazines. The firearm was confiscated and will be sent for ballistic testing to ensure that it was not used in commission of a crime.

The lawful owner of the firearm will also be traced.
