Man arrested for alleged illicit cigarettes and sexual enhancement tablets

TZANEEN – The police in Tzaneen arrested a 32-year-old suspect on 28 April after he was found in possession of alleged illicit cigarettes and pills for sexual performance enhancement.
The arrest was effected during an intelligence driven joint operation, comprising members of Tzaneen crime intelligence unit and cluster detectives, activated soon after they received information which led them to a house in the CBD.
After a search was conducted at this house, 84 boxes containing illicit cigarettes, 1 319 pills for sexual performance enhancement and a cash amount of more than R60 000 were recovered. Furthermore, four vehicles, a Ford Ranger, an Audi, a Crisler and a Hyundai Elantra were confiscated. All the recovered goods are worth over R1,5 million.
The provincial commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, lieutenant general Nneke Ledwaba, has applauded the members for acting promptly and arresting the suspect.
The suspect is expected to appear in Tzaneen magistrate’s court on Thursday 30 April on charges of possession of illicit cigarettes, contravention of the medicine and related substances control act and selling of unregistered sexual enhancement medicines.
