Daughter’s confession about father’s rape and abuse over the years
KIMBERLEY – Members of the Galeshewe family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit yesterday arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with the rape of his 22-year-old biological daughter.
It is alleged that the father has been raping his daughter since 2018 until 25 April 2020.
It is believed that the suspect threatened to post nude pictures of his daughter on social media, should she break her silence about the rape.
The victim finally brought her ordeal to surface on 25 April 2020, leading to the suspect’s arrest on 29 April.
The provincial commissioner of the Northern Cape, lieutenant general Risimati Peter Shivuri, urges anyone who has been sexually abused in the past or currently being abused by family members to break their silence and allow the law to deal with the perpetrators.
“Heinous criminal acts perpetrated by heartless criminals cannot be curbed if they are not reported to the authorities,” lieutenant general Shivuri emphasized.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Galeshewe magistrate’s court today, 30 April, and application for bail will be opposed.
