Covid-19 Crime prevention success in Kimberley

Various successes were achieved during crime prevention duties to enforce the level 4 lockdown Regulations today, 03 May 2020.
The members under the command of Brig Nicky Mills and Brig Bossie Jacobs conducted two vehicle check points in the greater Kimberley area during which 196 vehicles and 353 persons were stopped and searched.
Three(3) traffic related fines and two(2) fines for COVID 19 related offences were issued amounting to R6 800-00.
Earlier this afternoon members of Kimberley K9 and Provincial Crime Intelligence operationalised information received regarding the sale of drugs at a house in Galeshewe. The members discovered mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R 11 160-00 and cash amounting to R571-00 believed to be the proceeds of the sale of the drugs. A 55 year old male was arrested for
Dealing in drugs and will soon appear in the Galeshewe Magistrates court.
During the same operations , members also arrested a 23 year old man for possession of suspected stolen property in Hull street in Kimberley after he was found in possession of a wooden door alleged to have been stolen from a house. The value of the door is estmated at R 1500-00.
SAPS members will continue to stamp down the authority of the state during the lockdown period.
