Volkswagen to turn vacant PE Plant into a temporary Covid-19 medical facility

At a media briefing yesterday hosted by Chairman and MD Thomas Schaefer, Volkswagen announced its partnership with the German Government and to convert its vacant PE Plant into a temporary Covid-19 medical facility in an attempt to assist patients in the Eastern Cape. The R105 million partnership will see Volkswagen’s PE Plant being converted and used as an overflow medical facility, which, once operational, could accommodate up to 4 000 beds for patients diagnosed with Covid-19.
