Covid-19: Latest figures, 8 May
In a statement, health minister dr. Zwelini Mkhize says the number of coronavirus cases in South Africa has increased by 663 to 8 895.
The number of fatalities has risen, bringing the total number of deaths to 178.
There has been 3 153 recoveries and 307 752 coronavirus tests have been conducted.
