Only schools in Western Cape and Gauteng ready to open
The estimate by Angie Motshekga, Minister of Basic Education, as to when schools will be ready to reopen, is possibly not feasible in all provinces.
Reopen schools
Currently, only schools in the Western Cape and in Gauteng are ready to reopen. Schools in other provinces are still in the process of putting all the necessary safety precautions into place.
The minister says
The minister says the safety of teachers and employees is as important as that of learners. Safety precautions must therefore be implemented in all schools before reopening.
The Department said in a statement Motshekga is expected to announce the official date of reopening tomorrow (Thursday).
