Avril Williamson, Department of Cooperative Governance director-general, has emphasized the institutionalization of long-term planning in the development of Port St Johns as a new coastal city.

Williamson made the remarks while delivering a keynote address, during the local municipality strategic planning session, on behalf of COGTA minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

In her address, Williamson reflected on the town’s endowment, which is rich with pristine coastal lines and fertile land. The municipality is also home to diverse flora and fauna as well as having a rich history and heritage.
