Julie Pomagalski, a French former world champion snowboarder, has been killed in an avalanche in Switserland.

According to officials, Julie Pomagalski (40) was swept away by the avalanche while skiing off.-piste in a group of four in the canton of Uri.
Pomagalski was only a teenager when she became the world champion in snowboard cross in 1999.
