New lockdown rules threaten businesses
Fedhasa, the national trade association for the hospitality industry, have stated that the impact of a predicted third wave of Covid-19 infections and the possibility of additional lockdown measures over Easter could be another blow for an already devastated tourism industry.

Liquidations and insolvencies report
Fedhasa used Statistic South Africa’s recent liquidations and insolvencies report that showed that a total of 56 companies in the trade, catering and accommodation sector were liquidated during January and February 2021.
Rosemary Anderson, chairperson of Fedhasa, pointed out that the hospitality industry was left in tatters during the first and second lockdowns and that many businesses are now so financially compromised that they can’t stay open much longer.
