The additional 27 cents to the General Fuel Levy and Road Accident Fund levies, which was announced by finance minister Tito Mboweni, come into effect in April and will raise the costs of every litre of fuel purchased.
Petrol is set for a massive increase of 73 cents per litre, diesel will have an increase of 39 cents and illuminating paraffin will have an increase of 37 cents, before tax. If you add in the increase to the levies, petrol could rise with as much as R1 a litre and diesel with 66 cents a litre.
