A Filipino man died after being forced by police to do 300 squat-like exercises as punishment for braking the country’s strict Covid curfew rules.
Curfew
The man was out buying water at a local store after curfew last Thursday when he was stopped by police officers for violating the 18:00 curfew.
According to his aunt, he and others who were caught after curfew were forced to do 100-squat-like exercises as punishment and if they did not do the squats in sync, the whole group had to start over resulting in them doing a total of 300 squats.
The man’s live-in girlfriend told local media that he had been in immense pain when he returned that Friday morning and struggled to walk. Later the day he started convulsing and having seizures
Allegations of the punishment were denied but an investigation has been launched.
