The prize has been returned to Mrs De Silva after it was confirmed that she was not a divorcee.

After Mrs De Silva was awarded the crown the 2019 winner, Caroline Jurie, took it from her, citing the rule that competitors must be married and not divorced. Jurie then gave the crown to the second place winner.

The organizers have apologized to Mrs De Silva, who is separated but not divorced.

In a Facebook post she revealed she had to go to the hospital to be treated for head injuries after the incident. She also said that she would be taking legal action for the “unreasonable and insulting” way she was treated.
