Chip fat
Chip fat and other oils are considered to be waste, so when they are used to make biofuel it saves carbon emissions by displacing fossil oil.
However the demand across Europe is so large that imports now account for more than half of the UCO that’s made into fuel.
According to the study, there is no way of proving that these imports are sustainable and with no testing of what’s being imported, experts believe it’s ripe for fraud.
