Washing detergents

According to a new study, the chemicals in washing detergents that strip the dirt and grime from clothing also strips the beneficial humus from the soil. Humus is part of the organic matter that contributes to the health, fertility and water holding capability of the soil.

If you really want to use greywater, then you need to choose liquid washing detergent because while it still degrades the soil, it is not as harmful as washing powder.
