According to local officials, suspected jihadists have killed around 30 people in eastern Burkina Faso.

A large group of armed men attacked the village of Kodyel in Komandjari province early on Monday morning. If the estimate of the number killed is correct, it would make this attack one of the deadliest to ever take place in Burkina Faso.
Islamist attacks are becoming increasingly common in the country, especially in regions bordering Niger and Mali.
This attack takes place only a week after two Spanish journalists and an Irish national were killed in the West African country.
