The international scheme to ensure equal access to Covid-19 vaccines is now 140 million doses short due to India’s continuing Covid crisis.

The largest single supplier

The Serum Institute of India, which is the largest single supplier to the Covax scheme, has made none of its planned shipments since exports were suspended in March.

UNICEF, who buys and distributed vaccines for Covax, are urging leaders of G7 nations and the EU states to share their vaccine doses.

They are due to meet in the UK next month.
