Three provinces in South Africa entering third wave, rest of SA will inevitably follow
The three provinces that have confirmed the third wave are the Free State, Gauteng and Eastern Cape.
DURBAN.- Experts are convinced that the rest of the country will inevitably follow suit after three provinces confirmed they had entered their third wave of Covid-19 infections this week.
Sustained increases
The three provinces that have confirmed the third wave are the Free State, Gauteng and Eastern Cape.
According to data from the national Department of Health and NICD, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, North West and the Western Cape have experienced sustained increases over the last few weeks.
The data also showed that while the Northern Cape technically never exited the second wave, it also had a steady increase in infections.
There were 10 669 new infections between this Monday to Friday and 7 665 cases during Monday and Friday for the prior week.
As the national third wave looms, Health Minster Dr. Zweli Mkhize confirmed that meetings were being held on how best to hold off the national resurgence. Mkhize conceded the country would have to enforce additional restrictions to combat rising infections.
